#4 How Serious Is Inactivity?

Why don't we all see the picture clearly when it comes to physical activity and maintaining a stronger, longer life? According to Heart Health Update, Dr. Robertson argues that "Heart Attacks will kill more than 460,000 Americans this year." She mentions how exercise helps your heart in many ways, individuals who exercise can lower their cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, and lower the risks towards blood clots. Dr. Robertson includes that many studies have been made but researchers are still trying to come to a conclusion to how to prevent it and treat it. She adds that heart disease can start at a very young age and therefore we need to start living better lifestyles. She also mentions that other than physical activity there are other risk factors as well that can lead to a bad heart which could include smoking, eating habits, and much more. In Heart Health Update, Dr Robertson says researchers did a study on 268 men and fat hormones and the ones who weren't active had high fat hormones and the ones who were active did not and that proved that the ones who were active had reduced weight, which lowered their risk of heart disease. Anyone could get heart disease; it does not matter how young or old you are. Living a healthier and more active life in order to reduce the risk is very beneficial.

Being more active in ways that you don't have to consider it just "exercise" helps. I feel like staying active has a big role in preventing disease and helping your body. Why is it that researchers do not have the answers yet? Have the studies not been as reliable? Many people die from this disease and action needs to be taken in order to provide us with more accurate studies on how we could protect ourselves. If the studies were the "real deal" would people change and become more active or would they continue on with the risk?

  1. I agree with you that regular exercise helps maintain a healthy heart. The American Heart Association suggests 150 min of moderate exercise a week or 75 min of vigorous exercise a week. They state exercise lowers the risk of hear attack and stroke. Even though the research has been done, many people still lack exercise. Humans were meat to live physical lives and I think not doing so harms our bodies. I picture the future like in the movie Walle with everyone in mobile chairs.   2. I think your topic sort of plays into my topic of obesity and how it can cause heart issues. I had an article in my blog stating that we should have 30 minutes of exercise a day and 2-5 hours total of vigorous aerobic exercise a week to keep a healthy heart.

  3. 1. What did you find interesting about the post? I find it interesting how heart disease and blood clots can be reduced just by exercising. Exercising reduces the risks of so many health problems. I like how you also talk about how eating healthy is also important and not just exercise.

Or do you think if someone ate super healthy but never exercised do you think that could create health problems?

  4. Personally I have never been an active person. I can only be active when I have to do daily choirs. It’s shocking how an estimated 460,000 people will have a heart attack this year. As I look at my Diet and exercising habits, it doesn’t look so good for me. I would consider myself a healthy person, but will this decrease as I get older? Will bad diet affect the way I exercise? Although we are always educating people on being fit and eating right. How can we emphasize the benefits on a way where people don’t feel intimidated with the amount of hard work and dedication it will take?

  5. i would have to say that ever since i started to work out more, hiking, walking, light weights, and eating a healthier lifestyle, my body and attitude has never been better. i love how i feel and look. i like how you added some facts on how exercising can lower heart disease and blood clots

  6. What did you find interesting about the response? I found it interesting that you could get hear disease at a very young age. I had always thought it was older individuals who got this.
